The Vision platform operates in a client/server setup where the client is installed on the Vision Media Device & pre-staged by LightSpeed to access a server dedicated to the client. The Vision Media Device is programmed to access the server at preset intervals (5min for WiFi or Ethernet, 15min for cellular). When the device accesses the server, it checks if there is new content for that specific device and if so it downloads the content to be put in to the media rotation. At no point is content pushed from the server and there are no networking changes required other than giving the device internet access.


If content is retired from the media rotation on the server, the next time the device checks in for changes it will remove that content from rotation but not from the storage, unless space is needed. This way if the content is added back to the rotation in the future, the device will not need to download it again, saving bandwidth.


When the device powers on for the first time or after losing power, it will auto-launch the Vision application and begin checking for and playing media. The Vision application will also relaunch any time it is closed or otherwise shuts down, making sure the displays are always online and active.
