Overview

The CMS Library contains all File Based Media, such as images and video. In Vision, library content is placed on Layouts for display. The content library is a store of all the content that has been used on Layouts in the past, and content to be used on new Layouts. Each piece of content is assigned a duration which is used at display time to determine when the item is finished.

NOTE: Please be aware that Vision takes no measures to control what is put on your Displays. It is your responsibility to ensure that any content is appropriate material for the audience and is either appropriately attributed or you own the rights to it.

Supported Media

Add Media Window

Vision supports a few different file types:

  • Flash - Accepted file extensions include SWF files up to a maximum size of 1024M
  • Image - Accepted file extensions include JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF files up to a maximum size of 1024M
  • Video - Accepted file extensions include WMV, AVI, MPG, MPEG, WEBM, MP4 files up to a maximum size of 1024M

Non-Library Content

Not all types of content are saved in the Vision media Library. Instead they are embedded within the Layouts in which they are assigned. These types of content include:

  • Text
  • Ticker (RSS)
  • Web Pages

Filtering

You can use the filter to search for the content item that you would like to view/modify. To open the filter form, press the "Filter" button on the top right of the Library table.

Library Filter

  • Name - Name matching with the Media items for display. Tip: Use + or - in front of words to include/exclude them from the results.
  • Owner - Media items with the specified owner.
  • Type - Specific media type (i.e. all, image or video)
  • Retired - Inactive media items in the Library.

Sorting

The library table can be sorted by clicking on any column heading.

Action Menu

Media Actions

Each row in the table has an Action menu that provides various transactions that can occur on the Media item represented by that row.

Uploading Content

The CMS provides an easy to use file upload tool for adding all File Based Media. This tool is used when adding to the Library and when adding directly onto a Layout.

Uploading is done in two steps:

  1. Click "Add Files" and select the file(s) you want to upload.
  2. Click "Start Upload" to being the transfer.
Add New Media Form

Tip! Files can also be added via drag and drop. The media can also be added when creating layouts using the Layout Designer.

Editing Content

Edit Media Form

It may be necessary to upload a new revision of some existing content. To do so, the CMS provides an Edit dialog box, accessible from the Action menu.

Once you have entered the information Vision requires, click on the "Save" button and your content will be added to the Library.

Deleting Content

Delete Media Window

Content can only be deleted from the CMS if it is not being used on any existing Layouts. If it is being used on existing Layouts, options to unassign from all Layouts or retire the content will be presented. Retiring content means that it will no longer be available to assign to Layouts.

A media item can be deleted/retired using "Action > Delete". The delete window is then presented.
